Its pathetic really what lengths some people will go to just to try to create conflict where theres not any. I love Taylor and Tina but the way people (on both sides) were blowing it out to the point where you'd think Tina called Taylor a ***** on national TV is just ridiculous and shows what kind of circus media has turned into and I hate having to deal with that

But when you are in a place of power you have to be careful how you joke, because it so easily turns into bullying. Tina and Amy have power right now because many bloggers etc and people perceive them as funny. But they use that platform to make joks and humiliate others just for the sake of laughs and current popularity, with no regard to the hurt you and embarrassment to their targets. This after all the self-righteous outcries at bullying in schools, where the perpetrators are kids. Those kids are less to blame than adults like Tina and Amy that make it "cool" to be cruel and belittling to anyone they choose without reason.
Power, popularity and platform should not equal license to bully. And their ill-conceived yet popular dig at Taylor who didn't deserve it last year seemed to put a stamp of approval on all the tabloid lies and encouraged the spread and creation of more to the further damage to her image.
That's only differentfrom a popular clique in high school targeting some student for some perceived or manufactured fault in that it's on a much greater scale and a worldwide stage, which in my opinion makes it a much larger offense.
Don't forget just a few years ago it was popular and accepted in many arenas of life to mock gay people, and black people and handicapped people. Now it's not so sociably acceptable people pick targets like Taylor. Shes young, white, rich and beautiful so how can it hurt her, is their reasoning. What they don't acknowledge is she's also a person, with feelings and dreams and consciousness of her image and a career that can be affected by all these massive lies and the widespread hate they inspire.
So in summation; Tina and Amy may have had no ill-will in their initial joke but it doesn't negate or excuse the
great deal of ill-will that joke created. In my opinion their defense of it being a joke and in fun is no different than the same excuse used by a bully on a playground called out for teasing and causing emotional and sometimes physical distresd to a smaller or weaker classmate.
