So far we only have the civil union for same sex and also straight couples and I doubt it will change anytime soon.

I wouldn't be pessimistic at all.
The federal court will soon strike down the same sex marriage ban. I'm a political science student and I made a presentation about the federal court's influence on politics. It will happen within the next three years, just like marihuana will be legalized pretty soon as well. Bookmark me.
Gay marriage is a huge topic here right now and more than 70% of all Germans favor it. The only ones who don't are politicians of the Christian Democratic Union who have lost touch with reality and probably wish they still lived in the 50s, but they have no chance against the federal court, and they know it. That's why they hate so much on gay marriage right now, because they now that they'll lose soon.
If I am, by any chance, wrong, and it's not legalized within the next three years, I'm going to be the one to sue.
