People who get fat because of McDonald's doesn't get enough exercise. It's not really how we eat but how we take food out of our system. If you want a low BMI, eating healthy is the way to go. If you want to get thinner, exercise is the key. If you want to build muscle, a balance of the two is recommended.
The problem with a lot of people is they care too much of their food but remains sitting on their couch 24/7. If you exercise, you will get thin and the exercise I'm talking about is 20-30 minute walk a day and some 15 minute stretching in the morning.
Also, exercising in the morning helps you boost metabolism. The lazy asses should hit the gym once in a while and jog occasionally. The problem though with jogging/running without eating healthy (for overweight people) is that your skin will loose so balance really is the key. You don't need to lift heavily, just the weight you can lift so that your body will be able to balance and circulate the nutrients and muscle. Hitting the gym thrice a week or every other day is ideal. Let your muscle rest for 48 hours after workout. Overdoing exercise may lead to fatigue and eventually boredom of body lifting thus not recommended. You don't need to workout 3 hours a day. You can work hour an hour or an hour and a half (including cardio) every other day
