The Met Costume Institute Renames Itself After Anna Wintour
Straight-faced fashion queen Anna Wintour is one of those people who makes a long-term commitment and sticks to it. Not only has the Vogue editrix kept the same haircut since the age of 14, but she's been a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute since 1999 and raised about $125 million for them and their fancy ball. Her hard fundraising work is paying off now — its just been announced that the Met Costume Institute will henceforth be known as the Anna Wintour Costume Design Centre.
Yay! Look how happy this makes her:
The exhibition space is expected to be reopening in May 2014 after a two-year renovation, with an inaugural exhibition covering the career of American couturier Charles James. The new centre will have costume conservation facilities, research libraries and an expanded study and storage quarters. Palace of fashion!
