IT depends honestly. Everyone said Gaga is the Queen after TF TFM and BTW and us fans got cocky. Then look what happened with ARTPOP. It wasn't a flop but it did under perform. Katy has had massive success this era but who knows next era could end up like ARTPOP. No one knows the music industry in unpredictable.

There's no point comparing Katy and Gaga to Madonna and Paula. From my point of view, they are following their own paths. However, and this is not to cause any commotion, Gaga is emulating Madonna much to the point of being a reductive copy.

At this point like I said above, they really don't have similar careers unless you find Gaga's copying as a "Madonna career". Katy is a talented acoustic singer-songwriter before she became a pop star. And as a pop star, she's carving her own niche and establishing her own records. Paula was essentially carved out of the Madonna/Janet template, and was seen as a less popular version of the two. With Gaga, not really sure what she is as an artist - she's obviously a provocateur. But seeing that everything she's doing, and almost everything that she is (including her philosophy, her stand for gays), is very much like Madonna, I'm having a hard time defining her without thinking how "reductive" she seems.

And I hope that Katy will not be called the "new Madonna", because she is trying to be herself.

I think we'll know more when their 4th albums drop. Gaga may be looking like she's on her way out, but she could very easily have a comeback with her next album IF she plays her cards right. The GP loves a comeback artist.

Sure, Katy is more popular now but she could start to flop when next album comes around. Anything can happen. Us Kats need to learn from the monsters and not get too cocky.

So, it's hard to say who will last longer. We can only guess, and right now it's looking good for Katy.

Monsters said the same thing about Gaga winning and it turned around. Same could happen to Katy.

Madonna and Gaga comparisons and Paula and Katy comparisons are so old. They are all completely different artists. Lady Gaga and Katy Perry are both making names for themselves. They are both MASSIVE artists and recognized worldwide. And we are in a different era.

Gaga. Katy will get bored, retire, fizzle out and move on, or what have you some day, whereas Gaga will stay in the music industry forever probably, regardless of success level.

No. Gaga would not be selling nearly as bad as she is now is she didn't alienate the public, Katy hasn't and will not ever do that. She is a classy woman who cares about her image. Unconditionally is her favorite song off of Prism and she LOVES the beautiful MV for it.

Do you think someone with that kind of tastes would ever ruin their image? Probably not because the public likes that stuff too. Katy isn't thirsty for attention, she isn't desperate to stand-out, and she isn't dumb enough to ruin her own amazing career.

She never tries too hard to be in the media, but her songs are so liked that she doesn't need the media talking about her 24/7 to still outsell the other pop girls' singles. That's her strong point. People like her, and have no problem supporting her music.

Her music is only part of her appeal. Now if she starts getting weird and making bad music for the sake of calling it "art" then I will be glad to watch her flop because that's not staying true to herself. If you ever take the time to watch Katy Perry: Part of Me, you know that is not her style and not her vision.


I don't recall the public just dropping a star as big as Katy for no reason. She's too big at the moment to suddenly start flopping. Her next era might not be as big as Prism, but I doubt it would straight up flop
