Well I can name the fact that The Velvet Rope album has influenced every so called personal album by female pop stars.

I can assure you Janet Jackson was a huge part of the TRL generation and the major reason why a lot of the things Britney did you call amazing.

I know Janet is responsible for highly choreographed performances you expect to get your life to from female entertainers.

I can say that she has first bridged the gap between pop, r&b and rap. A sound many of the likes of beyonce and rihanna use as their sound today

I can say Nasty and the iconic catchphrase is one of the most defining songs from the 80's decade.

I can say years later that despite not giving a damn about her career form lists ranging from best female artist to best albums will always rank higher than Britney.

I can see her impact still continuing in today's stars despite being paid dust since 2001

I think Britney - but that's only bcuz Janet didn't do anything past 2009 tribute. Only people who grew up with her know how brilliant she was.The new generation (I'm talking about children) doesn't know her as she's inactive.
