If he's convicted of a felony he's completely SCREWED because he'll likely be denied entrance and/or work visas in the United States. The US isn't too keen on letting foreign felons enter their borders.

These are multi-million dollar homes so im sure what might seem like just some door or whatever is actually some crazy expensive, specially crafted, door that you cant just go to home depot grab some paint and slap a new coat over.
