I'm watching Horrible Bosses and just finished watching the scene where the one scruffy guy didn't want to bone Jennifer Aniston and she told him he was starting to sound like a "little ******" It got me thinking/curious.

As a gay person in theory I know I should be offended but I know the intent of the joke wasn't actually hateful so I'm not bothered.

How do you feel about it, when you're watching a movie and you see something like is it fine or does it contribute to a larger problem?

I'm not a fan. Same goes for any discriminatory jokes, though.

So what? Words are nothing; it's be connotation and meaning behind them that bothers people...

I don't care if someone calls me a ******, why give someone the power? I won't waste my emotion on them haha

And in the movie it was used facetiously to add to the inappropriate nature of the situation. A lot of the time that's the case but to use that word as a derogatory remark HAS to have some type of underlying message to it. I can play devils advocate.

Just because you don't find something funny, doesn't automatically mean it's discriminatory or in bad taste.

It's weak.

What's worse are the actors/actresses who say these lines. I would hope some would have the integrity to ask for a change so the blow isn't as offensive/ask for a complete change in the scene because I doubt saying those offensive terms are pertinent to the plot.

I'm all for gay jokes if they're genuinely funny.

It bothers me usually only if its at the expense of the LGBT community and its made by straight people. That line in Horrible Bosses didn't really bug me because they're portraying her character as a terrible person, though I could understand why some aren't comfortable with it.

You should be able to make fun of everyone. Only if the intention behind it is clearly hateful will I find it bothering.

They make me a bit uncomfortable, but the people that do it are just comedians that don't really have a problem with gays (that's what I think), so it's not too bad.

I hate it. I hate any form of discriminatory jokes.
