Gaga, she's the most global pop star. She has fans and is one of the major pop girls everywhere around the world. Beyonce, Katy and Rihanna aren't big in East-Asia, where Avril, Taylor and Gaga dominate. In Australia, Pink, Gaga and Katy are the biggest artists (although the ARTPOP era isn't doing good there, the tour receipts make up for that). In the Middle-East, Gaga, Madonna and perhaps Rihanna are the biggest artists. In Europe, Katy, Rihanna, Gaga and Adele are the biggest. In North America, Gaga, Katy, Beyonce and RIhanna are the biggest. In Africa, Rihanna, Gaga and Britney/Katy are the biggest. In Latin America, Gaga, Beyonce and Madonna/Britney are the biggest.

This whole idea of "global" is retarded. Every one of them has a large part of this world where they are a nobody and "global" as used by ATRL means Europe (and occasionally Japan) only.

Since the OP asked who dominates the most continents:
Africa: Rihanna
Asia: Rihanna + Gaga
North America: Rihanna + Beyonce
Europe: Rihanna + Shakira
South America: Shakira + JLO
Australia: P!nk
Antarctica: debatable 
So yea, this basically sums it up.

I don't think people are claiming she's pop though, they're claiming she's more global, but by answering the question they're indirectly saying she's a pop artist so I get where you're coming from.
