Taylor Swift in on an Independent label. She was one of the very first artists to join the new Big Machine Records. She said when she joined they didn't even have any furniture! Taylor joined an independent label because she was allowed a great deal of creative control over her music. It worked out for her, and her album sales have subsequently made Big Machine into the biggest label in Nashville.
This pic is a young Taylor putting copies of her first single, Tim McGraw, into envelopes to send to radio stations. She is joined here by Nathan Chapman, her producer, and Liz Rose her co-writer on the song. There were no interns to do this job for them cos the label was too new and small.
That is amazing. I am glad it worked out well for her. Dream big, work hard and you can get anywhere you want.
my fave wouldnt do **** for himself if the interscope people didnt force him to do a couple performances on release week and an interview or two.
nobody would even know there was music out. as it is he spends 99 percent of his time holed up in the studio making music/at his house in detroit

WOW I didn't know that
They must've taken a huge risk on each other, and it worked out great
It would be messy for most of them, I'm sure. Gaga's career is already a big enough mess, Shakira and Rihanna need to be pushed to put effort into promoting their work already, etc.
