Eh. We need more than one year of decline before we panic.
If it was plateauing sales would still fluctuate a few % year to year just as a matter of course.
Good point. I do think I'll continue decreasing next year, just a hunch, I mean look at last week's sales :
Quote:
Digital track sales this past week totaled 43.1 million downloads, up 98% compared with last week (21.8 million) and down 23% stacked next to the comparable week of 2012 (55.7 million). There were 1.26 billion tracks sold in 2013, down 6% compared to 2012's haul (1.34 billion).
I am all for streaming cannibalizing radio.... since radio makes NO real money for the industry.
Not here for it hurting sales though
I think it's really unfair, it's like downloading a song illegally to me. A streaming service makes any song available any time, so users feel no need to buy the cut anymore.
When it comes time to re-negotiate with streaming services like Spotify, Rdio, and Pandora, you better believe they will have to pay up more per stream.

Streaming sites pay the artist for each play though........
Digital track sales this past week totaled 30.6 million downloads, down 29% compared with last week (43.1 million) and down 11% stacked next to the comparable week of 2013 (34.5 million).
