In Christian theology, it teaches that evil is the result of freewill misused by God's creatures. Though God is an omnipotent, omnipresent and omniscient being, He only watches people's actions and doesn't get involved with worldly affairs. Intervening with what people do and the choices they make is a violation of freewill. It all makes sense because if God did not grant His creatures freewill then we will all have been controlled and forced only to do His will which leaves no room for evil to exist.

the Devil is not a human personification of evil though? the Devil is a former angel of the Lord named Lucifer who God cast out of Heaven for assuming himself on the same level as God because of his divinity. People have been sinners and abused their free will, making bad decisions, since creation, the Devil exploits us through temptation. However, he isn't the physical manifestation of evil, which means whatever argument you were trying to say makes little sense to both the topic and the person you replied to.

The Devil wasn't created from light like other angels but from fire. Since man was created from clay/dust he thought he was better than man and disobeyed God's instruction to prostrate before His creation. Because of the devils pride he was thrown out of paradise and he has promised God that he will mislead man.
