The Queen slaying records. No matter how it was released, people had a choice to buy the album. Beyonce is a legend and deserve the success that is coming her way.

That doesn't explain her selling 1m copies 19 (hihi) weeks faster than the previous album to reach that milestone.
I agree. I assume Taylor's 2012-2013 album was the last album to hit the milestone? We know because of Billboard that digital sales have actually decreased in 2013 so there wasn't an abnormal surge of digital album buyers than in 2011-2012. The truth is.. Beyonce's innovative BRILLIANT strategy worked in an industry that sells mostly physical albums. Her gamble paid off and she's got guts to be the first to do it.
I mean the fact that Beyonce got people to purchase an album digitally by this amount so quickly, when previous to that they obviously preferred to buy physical (not even the other BIG releases in 2013 in the same digital climate as now, 2012, 2011 could shatter Adele's record) says a whole lot about her selling power.

Before the album dropped, everyone here (including myself) was sipping from Kool-aid that dictated that these girls must have 30 promo slots, 6 X-Factor performances, an X-Factor judging position, 4 buzz singles, 2 real singles, a twitter beef/meltdown, award show controversy, and countless radio interviews all over the world for their album to sell even that many copies.
Let me say that ha team has also done a phenomenal job keeping the videos off YouTube. Just the sheer word of mouth has made people eager to check out the visual album. 0:30 can't do any video justice and basically the only way to see anything is to actually purchase the album
Not taking away from this accomplishment though. The album is selling great
BEYONCÉ is the 9th album to sell 1 million digital copies.

Taylor has 2 of those i think. So its not per artist...but albums what have sold mil. digital.
