He's entitled to an opinion, it's whether he acts based on those opinions that really matters. Some people do not "get" homosexuality and will never understand it because it is far too big a leap for them. Does that mean they are terrible people? Not in all cases.
I grew up in a very old fashioned community, and one thing I realised from that is that one questionable opinion doesn't make someone a bad person. In the case of Evander Holyfield I have no idea since I don't know the guy
EDIT: In the actual conversation Evander didnt say being gay is a choice, he said choosing to act on the urge and sleeping with somebody of the same sex is a choice, which it is but it still doesn't make his statement any better
