Video Games: Sony announces Playstation Now

Stream full games to all of your compatible PlayStation devices including PS4, PS3, and PlayStation Vita as well as non-PlayStation devices, beginning with 2014 BRAVIA TV models and expanding to numerous other Internet-connected devices.
Always play the most updated version of your game. With games hosted in the cloud, you can take your game with you – just log in with your Sony Entertainment Network account on a compatible device and your games and saved progress will be easily available.
We want to offer you choice when it comes to how you want to access content on PS Now, so you will be able to rent by title for specific games you are interested in. We’ll also offer a subscription that will enable you to explore a range of titles.

PS Now will begin a Beta program in the US at the end of January with an expected full roll-out in the US this summer. Be sure to check the PlayStation.Blog regularly for more updates on the PS Now service.

It's streaming. If you don't have a great internet connection it won't work well and even if you do, publications that tried it out today said it was great but a bit laggy. I honestly don't expect to use it now, but definitely will in 2-3 years when we as a world have better internet connections.

I don't think it actually requires any hard drive space. The games will be streamed through Sony/Gaikai's servers. I'm sure you'll need high speed internet so it won't be optimal for everyone.

But yes the hard drive is very easy to upgrade

It's a beta so I doubt it'll be perfect right now. Even then, all game streaming services in the past have had lag so I'm not going to expect it to be as good as playing from the disc. It'll still be nice to be able to play games on PS4 and Vita.

It's basically the netflix for games, so you open up the library, go to the game you want, bloop it starts playing, no downloads, no updates, no installs, just a stream over your internet connection.

This is a really big step for gaming, True cloud gaming is finally here, well done Sony

So if you buy a PS4 in the future can you play games you already own for PS3, or will you have to purchase them again?

Edit: I guess if you have a subscription you will be paying anyway...
