Streaming Tally Joins Germany's Official Charts

Streaming is now being included in the official German singles charts published by market research institute Media Control GfK, in Baden-Baden, for the German Federal Music Industry Association (BVMI) in Berlin. In addition to the single, long-play, compilation and genre charts, a separate streaming chart has been added to the official charts. The chart gives the same weight to both ad-supported and paid streams.

As Dr. Florian Drücke, BVMI managing director, told Billboard: “We are improving the precision of the official German charts as an important benchmark for measuring artists’ success. Only streamed music with a length of 31 seconds or more is included. As music is primarily streamed on a track basis, it will initially only be included in the singles charts for the time being.”

Streaming revenues in Germany grew by 40 percent in 2012, to almost 3 percent of the entire market. German revenues from physical and digital music sales contracted by 3.2 percent, to €1.44 billion in 2012.

Streaming services currently exhibit the greatest potential with young, well-educated people. “In addition, ad-financed streaming services particularly provide a bridge for those who have previously used illegal sources of music, allowing them to listen to music on a legal basis,” Drücke told Billboard.

I don't think those who buy her music know what streaming is, she mostly relies on the older audience which buy physical copies.

But yea, about time since Vevo isn't blocked in Germany anymore and we have a bunch of streaming services now etc.

I know that she's mega popular in Germany. But in the last few years she or any other Schlager singer didn't have a top 10 single in Germany...

This won't impact singles chart too much. Their singles chart is based on revenues not sales and revenues from streaming are kinda negligible.

Because people who listen to Schlager music are usually older and they don't buy singles online. Or stream music. People still buy a lot of physical albums over here. But Helene Fischer has a lot of young fans (including myself

Helene Fischer is very popular by younger people as well. Nowadays she makes very good pop schlager music. I don't listen to any german music because I don't like 99% of them so I do not listen to Helene Fischer... By The way she copies P!NK in every damn way.....She confirmed copying her on TV at Wetten Dass..? when I was in the audience because of P!NK performing Try this evening.... So one more reason I don't like her haha ..

But back to topic...do I need spotify now and it's counting for charts as well?
When I am listening to a song twice it counts as one or two?
