Shakira and Pitbull first collaborated on Rabiosa which failed to make the Top 100 in the U.S.
Then Pitbull and Shakira did Get It Started which peaked at #89 in the U.S and it was Pitbull's lead single for Global Warming.
I mean when Pitbull is featured on the song, it usually does really well like: I Like It, DJ Got Us Falling In Love, On The Floor.
And when a female is featured on a Pitbull song, it does really well too like Feel This Moment, Timber.
Is Shakira like cursed or something? I mean we're talking about Mr. Worldwide here.
Why do you guys keep forgetting about the song? Yes, the song. Usually, when a song flops, it's simply because it isn't good/catchy enough. It doesn't have anything to do with the people that are singing it.
To answer the OP, Rabiosa and that other song probably flopped because the GP wasn't feeling. If Pitbull and Shakira would to release a catchy single it would do well. Simply as that.
Shakira is irrelevant in the USA. I'm sure those songs did well in Latin countries though
Actually, the English version of Rabiosa with Pitbull did well worldwide. It didn't get a proper release here. Get It Started flopped almost everywhere.
"Rabiosa" was a BIG hit in Latin America and Europe It was by no means a flop, those two regions are her biggest and the US doesn't define whether or not a Shakira song is successful.
