I've been steadily losing interest in this era tbh... not even a quarter of my interest is left after her long silence, the useless app, and the holidays. Most of the music is good, which is what has kept me in until now, but for all I care she might as well start a new album and era in a month or two/three
Also, not Applause being her best video since Bad Romance and then her saying she didn't have time to properly plan it and implying she actually thinks it's a mess
I can't believe she dissed Applause video. Thus girl has no insight.

The Applause video is kind of a mess. It's a series of editorial shoots in motion with no connective tissue or build.
If I were her I'd have focused on the Pierrot make up (very memorable) and the white sheet catsuit look. Had shots of hands clapping etc. a la Pippin (white gloves hovering in darkness) and the story that ties it all together is her as Pierrot trying to impress the 'audience' (viewer) by performing to them. It starts with mime, sees her wheeling out a piano and playing it, putting on costumes, getting more and more dancers until the climax is a huge choreographed finale. The end is just her on an empty stage exhausted, with an 'applause' sign flashing and the scene going black.

Have only heard DWUW on the radio about 10 times overall, but I hear Applause at least 7 - 8 times a day.

Of course it could have been better but it wasn't bad like Gaga thinks it is. She thinks she needs to spend WEEKS AND MONTHS AND EVENTUALLY YEARS on her projects. Need I remind everyone the hits from The Fame were recorded in less than a week right?
