It's ridiculous if you actually think the GP is sitting at home like "I wish she would stop playing the victim and making up excuses!!! It's all her fault!" I feel stupid for even having to type this out. To be perfectly blunt they're hardly thinking about her at all at this current moment.

Actually, I didn't say that people are perched around googling lady gaga... I said major news outlets are covering it and guess what? Major entertainment news outlets ARE covering it.
You should feel stupid typing this out because you're talking to someone whom has a job in Marketing in the music business. I mean, i'd feel pretty stupid too if I was a teenager trying to explain to a professional in the business how my uneducated point is correct and their educated explanation is wrong but hey, It's actually perfect that you decided to bring up social media. You're probably not aware of the stats when it comes to the GP that see and have the potential of seeing something every time someone shares something on social media..... but that's okay. it's A LOT.
I also decided to help you out. Below is a simple and basic google search which shows the amount of news and entertainment agencies that have already picked this up.
That's 6 stories from 6 different agencies. Unlike your incorrect guess based on, well nothing.
Now, let's say that you are a Katy Perry fan or a Madonna fan or even a member of the general public and take 40 (one of the media sites) is running a competition, to enter you have to log into their website you then see (because it's a headline) a lady gaga story and you decide to read it (as members if the GP often do)
Another example, you're part of the GP and happen to like Angelina Jolie, you log onto NME.com to check for any news but then you come across a gaga headline and decide to read it....
Do I really need to illustrate any further examples?... This couldn't get any simpler.
