I like Rihanna and all, but could the army stop pulling ******** out of their asses?
Acting as if Rihanna's fashion is on Kate Middleton's level, name me one legitimate trend she started outside of her fan-base.

I never said any of that, I just said Beyonce had already a fanbase, relevancy and hype even before she released her first album. And Rihanna just got that with GGGB.

Biggest POPSTAR? Rihanna. Honorable mention to Beyonce and Taylor, but they are not Pop musicians. They have transcended their respective genres and become POPular in terms of worldwide fame/notoriety. And sure, they've incorporated pop elements into their music, but at the end of the day they are R&B/Country, and will deal with all the associated limitations of being associated with that genre re: worldwide appeal (Europe, etc). And tbh, there's no competition between Rihanna and Katy/Gaga

Bey/Taylor/Adele are not popstars, so they shouldn't be included?
If we go by true popstars, Rih is Kw33n.

Yup, Red sold 2 million outside the US and yes she's definitely not as big WW as a few others, but please explain to me: Why did Rihanna, who's claimed to be global, had her latest album sell on 2.3 million outside the US, despite being more global than Taylor? Isn't a 300k difference a bit too low for someone y'all pretend to be so much more global than my fave?

Probably Rihanna, she is big everywhere AFAIK. Her tours would be bigger but she has a really tight album release schedule. She needs to stop being late for her own concerts because it shows contempt for her fans and that is not a path to continued longevity. Currently she is probably no 1 because she is bigger in Europe than Taylor.
Taylor grew her popularity massively in certain markets in the Red era. She is already the dominant artist in America as shown by her album sales and NA Tour. She has now cracked the UK market with the Red album, it sold more in 2013 then it did in 2012, this reflects her growing popularity in the UK. In Australia, IKYWT went 6 Plat and she had a sold out Stadium tour there. WANEGBT was huge in Japan, Red is still somehow no 3 on iTunes Japan after 15 months of release! Taylor's career is definitely on the up in International markets.
Beyonce and Gaga are still massive worldwide, although the latter is struggling with Artpop. We'll have to see how well it does in the long run. Beyonce's latest album has done well but it is still early days and too soon to look at it's longevity.
Katy Perry is doing well with Prism but she lacks the touring power or album sales of the others, at least so far. She might change that of course.
If Adele has another monster album and has a massive tour, then the answer could be her.

I think popstar refers to a popular recording artist, not someone who is defined by the genre of music they make.

Adele doesn't need to tour though. Touring is for promoting your album yes? 21 sold 26 million without the need for touring
