Bangerz and Samson & Delilah are my faves. I liked a couple of the tracks from Jai Paul & ARTPOP though. Haven't heard Celine's yet but I liked the lead single a lot.
I decided to give The Neighbourhood
a try not long ago after hearing
"Sweater Weather" and I Love You.
was a pleasant surprise. "Afraid"
is one of the highlights, despite
the somewhat cringey lyrics.
"Flawless", a more upbeat track,
is another great one. It's a solid
debut.
The Civil Wars deliver again with their second
album. The lead single, "The One That Got
Away" is a brilliant song (not as good as a
certain other song of the same name, but
still) and "Same Old Same Old" is another
favourite of mine. The album lacks a
song anywhere near as good as "Poison
& Wine" from their debut, but its a great
experience from start to finish regard-
less. And they have incredible voices.
Yours Truly is a lot better than I expected it to be. I thought
"The Way" was a pretty good start to the era, but it's
definitely not even the best song on the record.
"Honeymoon Avenue" is a brilliant intro-
duction, and "Tattooed Heart" is another of
my favourites. Aside from her Mariah-
esque vocals, Ariana doesn't really
bring anything new to the table, but
the music's cute. And that's all that
matters.
Bastille have managed to get them-
selves a pretty good-sized hit with
"Pompeii", and the album's pretty
great too. There are a number of bops:
"Things We Lost in the Fire" being
one, "Icarus" being another. Possibly
my favourite is "Overjoyed", a more
down-tempo electronic-influenced
ballad. The album's an introduction
to a band with a lot of potential.
M.I.A.'s fourth record is great
electronic music, as expected.
"Bad Girls" set the era off to
a great start, and it's under-
standable that it was chosen as
the first single as it's definitely
the most radio-friendly track, if that's
the correct word to use for M.I.A.'s
music. "Only 1 U" and "aTENTion" are
hip-hop influenced jams; both are superb.
