Ugh speaking of legends singles let's break it down.
The first era was perfect, she could have possibly tacked on Jane Doe for that quick smash but pretty much perfect besides.
The second era just slays completely, though she could have really pushed Diary for another smash.
AIA ugh frustrates me, it was huge but it could have been much bigger.
No One then Go Ahead, followed by Superwoman, then Lesson learned just on pop and Like You'll Never see Me Again on urban.
Alicia usually sends only one or two songs to pop per era which shows her real impact.
TEOF is my FAVORITE album ever ugh. Doesn't Mean Anything could have smashed after TSWABH but it wasn't strong enough to be a first single. PIIALS is the worst thing Alicia's ever touched and among beys worst so yeah I hate it but it would have smashed so hard. Then Through It All and maybe Wait Til You See My Smile to push dem albums.
Girl on Fire, even in a discography of poorly planed eras, was done so dirty.
Girl on Fire was a smart first single but Brand new Me as a urban only follow up. Alicia could release when it's all over to radios tomorrow and it would STILL smash.
1. GOF
2. WIAO
3. FWM(urban)/TAW
4. One Thing crossover smash around this time Winter 2013
I'm so pressed people are here for Alicia but she's never cared about the success.
When I saw Alicia last April on her world tour, she sounded fantastic and put on a great show. That's the second best concert I saw behind Janet of course.
People saying her voice is gone. YES she has off days but it's not as bad as people make out. I've noticed many like to scream when someone fails and whisper when someones a success.
Alicia MAY not be able to sing like she used to but neither can Whitney; neither can Mariah; neither can Aretha!
When you put strain on your voice from singing LIVE it happens.
I really liked Girl on Fire as a album and it is my third favorite album of her's followed by As I Am and The Element of Freedom. I feel like "Limitedless' could have really worked as a single,
In terms of success, unfortunately Alicia will continue to have the success she has been having. I just can't see her smashing with all the other artist that over shadow soulful artists like her.
Agreed, so many people praise her first 2 albums but i think her last 3 are better.
