Ok the verses on Swine sound rough, but I like it - it sounds raw. Swine is a fantastic song. The breakdown is everything. I do wish the lyrics were stronger, but it still works for me

This performance actually made me a fan. For most of 2009 she was kind of annoying to me. I caught a few of her interviews like
Where she was putting on such an act (she did that for like all of her interviews for the 2nd half of The Fame era) and it turned me off, it felt fake and it frustrated me.

Then I saw that VMA performance, and at first I was kinda like….what the hell was that….but it really intrigued me. Over the next few days the more I watched it the more I liked it and thought it was genius, and then I saw her on SNL and became a fan

Yesssss Her vocals on the live versions are so much better than the studio version. She uses her head voice and sounds so gentle and high pitched, you can't really tell she's a great singer from the studio version. On the live versions she sounds a lot stronger and belts it out.
Also, that performance was one of the first where I realized how much her voice was improving. Compare it to performances of it from earlier that year, and on those she had to bring down the key…her voice also sounded a lot more tired. On the SNL one she sounded so strong.
