The album Girl on fire has sold around 1,6 million WW. It was HEAVILY Promoted, I have not seen so much promo in a long time. She used to be a big album seller but her last one underperformed big time, GOF the song was a hit but her era ended there. I honestly cd it was a very boring album.
She released an amazing second single that went nowhere
Can she go back to slaying or will she pull these kind of numbers from now on?
She can't go back to slaying because apparently she can't go back to making flawless music.
Her first 2 albums put everything she's done lately to shame. That doesn't mean she's flopping. She still got a hit from her new album ('GOF') and a cute little urban ac smash ('Fire We Make'). Her album sales weren't completely embarassing either. She has some stepping up to do though.
Girl on Fire was a worldwide hit single, it was on the radio all the time here and it went top 20 in most countries. I think she'll keep having eras like this. She deserves more success, she's really talented.

She has had consistent success and I hope it continues that way. She's a very talented songwriter and artist. And she has a good, unique voice. I'm sure she will always a have a loyal fan base.

Yes. She was literally everywhere for the promotion of the lead single, she had numerous high profile performances and she released 4 videos.
I think she still has a shot of reigning, she just needs a funkier sound and to work on that voice. plus, she's already sold hella albums and won a gaggle of Grammy's so she's good, tbh.
She made this song, she can comeback from anything.
Seriously, I ain't worried for her. Everyone has ups and downs. Good stuff
Edit: and to clarify, I mean that she made such good songs in the past that I'm sure she can make more. I didn't like GOF and it was shoved down my throat on every radio station etc.
TEOF was an incredible album, her best IMO, and TSWABH could have smashed like No One, especially coming off the hype from ESOM.
Also PIIALS could have smashed if they bothered to release the damn video.
As for GOF, I think New Day could have been a hit if they released it after the lead. Alicia isn't Bruno Mars - her piano ballads (like Brand New Me) just won't get noticed.
She never really reigned, she always had hits but like she was always there... you know?
She did reign. She absolutely SMASHED with her first album; Fallin' was huge and #1 for weeks, the album went 6XP, she won 5 Grammys in one night, she was hailed as the most amazing talent, everybody fell over themselves salivating over her songwriting, her piano playing, her singing. Adele-like teas, TBH.
