Katy has never needed a remix or alternative version to get a hit. She only used them for a little chart boost once the song was already HUGE on its own. And "Dark Horse" is smashing without promo or a video. Her and her songs are just way more appealing to people. Besides Katy has only had one flop since the Teeange Dream era, "Unconditionally", which still reached Top 10 on airplay and will go Platinum in sales so it's not much a flop anyway.
