Come on now. Rihanna struggles to sing her songs, which effectively are made to fit into her vocal capacities while Katy Perry has a lot of songs that are supposedly too big for her. It's not about being special or being a better ballad, it's about pulling them off live and I seriously doubt Rihanna can sing a song like Unconditionally live when she struggles with her own songs which don't really present many vocal challenges bar Diamonds' climax.

PIU has no promo or video and managed to climb into the top 20, Uncle had numerous performances and only peaked in the top 20 ...

PIU was sent on urban radio back in January as second single. It smashed and broke the record on urban radio. It peaked at #19 without video, performance and only urban support.
The video came in October when the song wasn't obviously still charting and it's at 86 million views even tho the song peaked 5 months ago.

So what is Rihanna's special talent? She isn't better than Katy live and she certainly doesn't play any instruments. The last time I checked she didn't write much of her own songs either. So what makes Rihanna so much more talented than Katy?

ugh poor uncle perhaps it would have done better without all the 5384847362 performance that showcase how tone deaf and off-key Katy can be.

Rihanna will most likely outlast Katy worldwide because she has greater appeal in that sense, but Katy will probably outlast her and be more well liked in North America.

Katy >> Americas and Australia

I have no idea about the asian countries, but the fact of the matter is both of them have areas where they are stronger than the other.

Don't even try and bring up touring because Katy'd 2nd tour was held in the middle of her era and she was much bigger when the era ended as compared to when it started. Rihanna has had many eras but JUST broke the $100 million mark with her 5th tour. That's not something you should be trying to drag Katy with.

And her sound is switched up, BUT that is NOT her album. There is a reason why her albums stall at 3 million sales. They are full of filler and the only good songs are the 1-2 big singles they try and push.

And Katy said she lowered her ticket prices, but in reality they are still expensive so don't even try that.

And please, Rihanna fans stop embarrassing yourselves with this "Icon" award. It's the American Music Awards, something America hardly even cares about a few days after it aired. Stop embarrassing yourselves for acting like it's anything more than it is.


And neither Rihanna NOR Katy have outstanding vocals. Stop trying to use that

None of them can properly sing or perform, but at least Rihanna doesn't use a safe formula and the same producer for 3 albums. People are constantly curious of what she'll do next, even though she releases every year.
