People need to realise that outside the gay community people exist. A larger number of people too. Born This Way was big in the gay community but outside it never had any impact.
Now my grandmother was singing stay the other day and started crying. Now that's impact.

BTW did have an impact outside the lgbt community... It's really not just a gay anthem.
& if you're going with the emotional route to prove impact, the song (and album) saved lives.
