Ricki Martin and his husband/boyfriend are separated and almost every media outlet says Ricki is separating from his partner and this isn't the first time.
Also why do gay couples in Hollywood say "this is my partner" and not boyfriend/husband/girlfriend/wife?
It's a universal word for straights and gays. Boyfriend and Girlfriend sound immature. Most adults use the word partner to describe his or her significant other.
I've always found it weird. A lot of us gays refer to our significant others as partners too. I've heard 'he's my husband' maybe... once? I've never heard 'she's my wife'.
