Well... ARTPOP is a mess (I love it, but it is). Stars Dance is okay, but we all know that Selena does not have the star power or talent that Demi has and the album made her seem somewhat desperate for a hit. Bangerz, again, was a mess. The only good songs on there were the first two singles: "We Can't Stop" and "Wrecking Ball". The only one that even comes close is PRISM. Demi is a very personal and relatable album, but it's also a big step up for Demi and overall it's a very developed album. The songwriting is great, the vocals are great, the album as a whole is just better.
Truthfully, DEMI is much better than most of the slack it's given. And aside from Katy and Gaga's albums, it deserves more praise. The real issue is that Demi's identity is lost amongst the unfitting production and at-times lackadaisical songwriting.
People love to run up with 1 receipt from one reviewer that placed it in their list for the Top 50 albums list for 2013. I like the songs on Demi, but it's pretty bland as an album.
