Personally, I think planning out a perfect resolution is just setting yourself up for something that won't happen. I think an ideal goal is something that isn't planned out on January 1st but something that comes about naturally through time. I have some improvements in mind for myself for 2014 but I try not to call any of them resolutions.
i usually don't get too specific with them, just general things i wanna do in the year
that way you can still do what you want and hold yourself to something without stifling yourself or making it difficult to manage change
Depends. A majority of today's society lacks the motivation to exceed their own expectations because they've mostly felt disappointed from past experiences when it came to failure. Some rise above it, some don't. Also, some just forget their resolutions.

Be ready to not accomplish anything then. If you dont have goals, you wont accomplish anything.
If you have desire to accomplish the goals you set for yourself, then go for it. If you know you are lazy, then dont. Nothing will come "naturally". You work for the results you seek.
