My parents would always avoid going to the hospital back when I was kid because they weren't able to afford health insurance. The health care in the U.S. is just too damn expensive without the help of health insurance

Don't be an idiot, you know the "free" in this context means people are not discriminated against for being ill and people pay for healthcare only within their means. It is free in the sense that someone with a long-term illness does not have to choose between bankruptcy and death.

Nonsense, it's been recently affirmed by the Supreme Court in not one, but TWO landmark cases. You can't simply take it away because it's not a law to be struck down, it's a right... people REALLY don't like their RIGHTS being taken away and no one would even attempt it at the current time.

Besides, guns and gun rights are more popular than ever right now. Maybe it will disappear in the next 100-150 years, until then? Nah.

Canada has healthcare

Where I live it's free, but this sort of thing scares me so much. If something bad happened to me, I just wouldn't be able to pay. I'm so lucky not to live in the US!

As a Canadian this especially is shocking and kind of disturbing to see. The sheer amount of money these hospitals are charging for everything is just way overboard. Healthcare and capitalism should NOT go hand in hand.

Good thing he was able to be put under his father's insurance. It's outrageous that $55,000 is the cost for a simple surgery, such as an appendectomy.

What point are you even trying to make? (Some) Americans are too stubborn to realise that you don't need to own a gun to live a safe and happy life and that they only can result in pain and suffering, how on earth does that relate to the United States having an atrocious health care system in comparison to many other first world countries? Because of the amount of idiots owning guns and causing injuries it'd be stupid for the Government to try to help treat the victims as it'll cost them millions?

Besides, the American government already constantly break that 'right'. The right is a 'Right to bare arms', not 'A right to own a gun' - it was supposed to allow you access to the weapons to protect yourself from Governments and such which at the time was a musket, think you'd be allowed to own a nuke these days?
