Born This Way was literally all hype that coasted on the wave of Gaga's previous hit album...and with it came accusations of song stealing and that 99cent sales tag that will forever haunt her career. Then later it was savagely upstaged by 21. BTW was supposed to dominate the planet, but wound up sewing the seeds to her own undoing. With that album, Gaga went from being the standard to being a parody of herself. It was like a Frankenstein monster that turned on its creator. BEYONCÉ on the other hand is basically a renaissance for Beyoncé. Not only did she improve on last album, but commercially she upstaged every other female (and most of the males) pop artist this year, and in the meantime is being showered with universal critical acclaim and being heralded with terms like "game changing."

In short: BEYONCÉ is the album Gaga has been trying to create since after The Fame.

BIGGER HYPE: Born This Way

Bigger Album: Beyonce

Born This Way was considerably bigger in the hype department. Yes, Beyoncé was everywhere and had a great promotional plan like the SuperBowl and her Pepsi campaign, but Born This Way was coming off of The Fame (Monster). Gaga didn't need 17 videos to sell like 800k+ copies first week in the U.S. at full-price and her lead single broke first-week female debut records. On top of that, her celebrity was at its peak and in a great place at the time.

That being said, Beyonce has been more well-received (and rightfully so) and I could see it outselling Born This Way, as it should. I know a lot of people think Beyonce won't have hits or longevity, but the late release of physicals was great for bolstering her second and third weeks and the amazing album sales will contribute to radio wanting to play Beyoncé's singles. It seems impossible for her to lose at this point.

BTW was coming off a successful era so the hype was much bigger, but it disappointed in the end.

BEYONCÉ wasn't cruising on the success of her previous album & the hype she got from the album was strictly from the surprise release & visual aspect.

Because of this, BEYONCÉ will be seen as a bigger album because it was able to stand alone. BTW's initial hype came from The Fame/TFM (more remembered eras).

BTW was hyped by GaGa and her team/label more than anything. Bey's WW overall will beat GaGa eventually and her first week sales are without a doubt better. The fact that almost 700k of BTW's first week was sold for a dollar will never go away.

Born This Way easily. It sold 1.9 Million WW first week.

I am wondering will someone answer the question which album is bigger ?

Everyone is like "BTW was coming off from hype " "BEYONCE is better" and BS like that

I can use the same argument for BTW. Because of the big hype, the album was overlooked.. Just stop. Did BTW made more Impact in Its release week ? Yes. Did it debut with bigger numbers even without the discount than BEYONCE ? It did. Is Gaga more hated than Beyonce ? Yes. I mean she is singing about gays lesbians and her album still sold more than BEYONCE and I love BEYONCE. In Fact BTW and BEYONCE are (In my opinion) the 2 best albums of the decade.
