if you're a causal fan, then it's debatable

The book is marvellous.

No, and it lacks some of the LOTR epicness. Sure, the Hobbit is a nice movie but you'll be disappointed if you are a fan.

The Desolation of Smaug is a mess imo.

I am a fan of books and LOTR trilogy. The Hobbits movies are mess. SLP also made a list. Jennifer Lawrence's impact

The Hobbit is a book for kids, it's a TALE, if Peter did make it as dramatic, dark and epic as LOTR, it would completely destroy the spirit of the book. It wouldn't be an adaptation at all.

He had to choose between an adaptation completely estranged from LOTR or link it with the previous trilogy, he took the risk to do the later (which took 3 films instead of 2) and unfortunatly encouraged the comparisons.

I hate how the new movie ends. I wish he would have combined the second and third movie into one. The second movie was good but not better than the first one. there was too much going on in TDOS. I watched both online btw
