Tim's Best of 2013: Entertainer of the Year revealed!!!
So I thought with this little intermission between my singles and albums list I'd take the time to give props to a lady who entertained me the most in 2013. Surprisingly my choice for entertainer of the year wasn't a singer, dancer or an actress but rather a WWE Diva. Yes you read that correctly, a female wrestler is my choice for entertainer of the year but hear me out on this one. I personally believe WWE Superstars and Divas are some of the most underrated entertainers out there. Not only are they wrestlers but they're also actors and when that bell rings that don't have lyrics or a script to help them tell a story, instead they have to rely on body language, facial expressions and of course great wrestling to tell a story and that's no easy feat.
AJ LEE
So this pint-sized diva made a splash last year when she was featured in several love angles with some of WWE's top names (Daniel Bryan, CM Punk, Kane & John Cena) to name a few. She ended 2012 turning her back on her then boo-thang John Cena when she pushed him off a ladder costing him his match at the 2012 TLC pay-per-view. She spent the beginning of 2013 as the girlfriend of one of my favorite WWE Superstars Dolph Ziggler helping the self-procclaimed "show-off" earn some cheap victories. However in the Spring she set her eyes on the prize every Diva in WWE wants, the Diva's Championship held then by her ex-BFF Kaitlyn. She devised a masterplan to emtionally break Kaitlyn by sending her gifts each week pretending they were from a "secret admirer" when infact they were actually from AJ herself. With the help of her friend Big E Langston she was able to pull off the hokes and when it came time for Kaitlyn to put the title on the line, she was more concerned with getting revenge then retaining her title leading to AJ winning the strap at the June pay-per-view 'Payback' in what WWE fans and the company itself refer to as the best Divas Match of the year. Wether it was her fued with Kaitlyn, her epic back in forth with WWE Creative Director Stephanie McMahon or her buzz-worthy "pipe-bomb" against the cast of E! & WWE's reality show 'Total Divas', AJ kept me tuning in to each Monday Night Raw, Friday Night Smackdown and monthly pay-per-views. She has sold the most WWE merchandise of any Diva in the history of the company (her section of WWEShop.com is filled with everything from shirts to piggy banks and iPhone cases) and has a cult like following with over 1 million follwers on twitter (the most of any WWE Diva in history). The company hasn't seen a female with this kind of star power since the days of Trish Stratus & Lita. With the title still in her hands she closing in on the longest Divas Championship reign in history. I can't wait to see what she delivers in 2014
