Nicole Scherzinger: I wanted hair like Jennifer Lopez but I ended up looking like puke

Nicole Scherzinger hasn't always had beautifully glossy hair.

The X Factor judge admits that her locks took a battering when she attempted a dramatic new look inspired by Jennifer Lopez.

‘I wanted to be J-Lo when I was younger, so I dyed my hair blonde with streaks, but it looked green like puke,' says Nicole, 35.

‘Then I had porcupine curls, as I call them, because my hair was unhealthy and breaking.'

Luckily Nicole's since discovered that the secret to an enviable mane is keeping it natural.

‘[Amazing hair is] hair that looks gorgeous but effortless, that you want to put your fingers through,' the singer says.

EDIT: I believe that she was having her personal issues up until she was about 31 (since she joined the PCD in 2003, which is when the bulimia had reportedly begun, lasting for 8 years)...it may have not been too long ago, but it's behind her now, so there is no longer a struggle
