100 BEST SONGS EVER · #88 - 85

♫"Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live. Maybe one of these days you can let the light in. Show me how big your brave is."♫ | 88 · SARA BAREILLES, "Brave"
Debut Date: May 18, 2013
Weeks on Chart: 2 Weeks
Peak Position: #12
I am a one big Sara Bareilles fan. In fact, "King of Anything" ended up as a runner-up on my 2010 list. It's been a while since we've heard something from Sara and I was excited for her comeback single this year. To be honest, "Brave" was underwhelming and it took time for me to love the song. I was expecting something as strong as "Love Song" or as emotional as "Gravity".

♫"Baby take your time now, there's no need to rush. We can go another round, if that's what you want."♫ | 87 · CIARA, "Body Party"
Debut Date: May 11, 2013
Weeks on Chart: 4 Weeks
Peak Position: #08
One of the sexiest songs of 2013. It just sounds so steamy and ugh, never mind. Definitely not my favorite Ciara hit, but the sampling of "My Boo" truly helped the song. It enjoyed great recall. Ciara's vocals here were very impressive, but I actually think "Got Me Good" would be a better lead single off her latest album. Sadly, the song failed to make it to the album.

♫"And his brother said he was a good friend, but the women in the two black veils they didn't bother to cry."♫ | 86 · CARRIE UNDERWOOD, "Two Black Cadillacs"
Debut Date: February 16, 2013
Weeks on Chart: 2 Weeks
Peak Position: #17
I seldom listen to country music but always kept an eye on Carrie. In fact, it's my favorite release off Blown Away. I wasn't actually a big fan of the song not until I was able to watch the music video. It just tells a great story. It's reminiscent of how Carrie told "Just A Dream". I just hope Carrie continues to do more of this type of story-like bops.

♫"Don’t stop ’til you thrill me, oh how you thrill me. Always in control, how you do it, I don’t know but I don’t care, take me anywhere."♫ | 85 · MARIAH CAREY f/ MIGUEL, "#Beautiful"
Debut Date: May 11, 2013
Weeks on Chart: 8 Weeks
Peak Position: #02
A song that originally ranked about 20 spots higher on my initial list, but sunk big time cause I realized that it never really stood out for me this year. I am a big Mariah fan and in fact, I still bop to her 90s releases. However, her recent singles are just so underwhelming and disappointing. I just hope she goes back to her roots and give us remarkable R&B-influenced classics.

It doesn't matter if it's not my genre. I still jam to them once in a while.
