Mariah's New 'Body' of Work Due April 15

Mariah Carey has dubbed her next effort "E=MC²," and will release it April 15 via Island/Def Jam. The R&B-leaning first single "Touch My Body" will hit U.S. radio outlets on Feb. 12.

As first tipped here last month, the set also features producers Jermaine Dupri and will.i.am, plus DJ Toomp, Stargate, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser. Other collaborators include hit-maker T-Pain and Damian Marley.

"It's kind of strange but I heard a lot of her records and it sound like the album is better than the last album," Dupri recently told Billboard.

Other tracks expected to appear on the album include "Migrate," "Love Story," "Lovin' You Long Time" and "OOC."

"E=MC ²," comes three years after Carey's "The Emancipation of Mimi," which has sold 5.8 million copies in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and earned two Grammys.

She's like 37; NO one wants to touch HER body. I wish she would show some ****ing artist development and come back with a better lead single. I tried to force myself to like it; didn't work. It's really average, and sounds like every other "safe" song she's ever released. This is easily the worst thing The Dream has produced in a while.

Anyway, I'm speechless. This song is beyond awesome on first listen, addictive on second listen and a masterpiece on third listen. It's definitely unpredictable since we were all expecting an up-tempo song. The sound is safe and Mariah. Welcome back, honey. Get that #1!

I am actually really happy this isnt upbeat! I love her more mellow songs (say something, shake it off were my favorite singles from her last cd) and i was hoping she would do something in that direction and she did :heart:

It would be even WORSE if this was recorded by DANITY kane. Diddy wouldn't have let them record this mess. I know i'm prone to fall for generic ******** songs, but this is seriously a pathetic effort from a "musical great".

The song is fun and that's all I wanted. This is exactly what she needed as a first single to get the radios going.

I have just listened to the song that is being heralded as the 'SONG' of 2008 or whatever those lunatic mariah fans are calling it these days!!..Good news and Bad news!!...

Firstly..good news is that it ISN'T an all out disaster like most people on here are declaring it to be..Its actually very R&B leaning and has the same twist and snap feel of her previous shake it off single from TEOM..Its very generic and easy flowing and its not trying to be anything different or over the top..Radio will like this because its really simple.

Lastly..bad news is that i can not ****ing believe that THIS is a first single from an anticipated Mariah album..i mean WTF??? this ain't **** for a first single..this ain't gonna wet our appetites for the album..Its just too PLAIN and very CHEESY..The song does fall apart with the atrocious lyrics even though that doesn't really matter nowadays..I like the production cause its simple..what i don't like is that THE DREAM did this?? its too lazy and unimaginative for someone like him to do..Him and Mariah are not a good creative symbiosis AT ALL..They just don't FIT..at least with this song as evidence!..Sorry to say but Janet's Feedback is just way superior than this whether it flopped or not..it just is M-O-R-E..Touch My Body is just T-H-E-R-E..nothing outstanding..Lets wait and see if Madonna will trump Mariah in terms of a really outstanding first single because touch my body IS NOT IT..
