Update #1: I was a mosquito, especially for missing so much of this. Oi.
Update #2: Another recommendation of that Empire of the Sun album. I should listen to that album. Now.
Update #3: EXPLOOOOOOOOSIONS.
Update #4: And Kings of Leon...another album I didn't listen to in full. Oh well, hold on, we're going to get treasure.
Update #5: "Closer" is Tegan and Sara at their very best. Hey, sometimes, I can be serious.
Update #6: Not much here, but Drake's album is among the many albums I need to seek out.
Phew, okay, no more catching up.

JEIBERT'S BEST OF 2013
ALBUMS
#56
ROBIN THICKE - 'Blurred Lines'
 | RELEASED:July 12, 2013
GENRE: Hip hop
LABEL: Dance-pop ; funk ; soul
PRODUCER: The Cataracs ; Cirkut ; Dr. Luke ; Jerome "J-Roc" Harmon ; Pharrell ; ProJay ; Robin Thicke ; Timbaland ; will.i.am
FAVORITES:
❤❤❤❤ "Give It 2 U" (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
❤❤❤ "Ooo La La" ; "The Good Life" ; "Take It Easy on Me"
⚫ While I absolutely loathe the lead single and monster hit "Blurred Lines", the album isn't atrocious as it seems! Robin is known for that airy falsetto-ish vocals and of course, that distinct vocal style of his is still evident here in his latest effort. But yet, I was very intimidated about his range when he sings some lines in lower register. The album is okay, and saying that just like the other artists that made the albums list before, this one too, adds to the collection of weaker material compared to their past in my opinion
2011: Jason Derulo - "Future History"
2012: Miguel - "Kaleidoscope Dream" |
RECAP:
65. The Yeah Yeah Yeah's - 'Mosquito' | 64. Jessie J - 'Alive' | 63. Empire of the Sun - 'Ice on the Dune' | 62. Eve - 'Lip Lock' | 61. Kings of Leon - 'Mechanical Bull' | 60. Laura Mvula - 'Sing to the Moon' | 59. Cassadee Pope - 'Frame by Frame' | 58. Lady Antebellum - 'Golden' | 57. Drake - 'Nothing Was The Same' |
SINGLES
#107
GABRIELLE - "Say Goodbye"
 | "...I never thought that we would have to... (baby say good bye),..And even though it breaks my heart to, (say goodbye)... I know its time has come for us to say, good-bye..."
ALBUM: Now and Always: 20 Years of Dreaming
RELEASED DATE: November 25, 2013
GENRE: Soul, R&B, Pop
LENGTH:
LABEL: Island Records (Go Beat!)
WRITER(S): Louisa Gabrielle Bobb
PRODUCER(S): Scyience
WEEKS ON CHART: 4 weeks (still charting)
PEAK POSITION: #02
⚫ Many many years have I thought, where could this great woman be? And here she surprises us at the fourth quarter of this year! With her compilation album being 20 years in the music industry, UK soul singer Gabrielle reminds us how great the mark of quality her music is! This song is just sweet and sad at the same time, and reminds the listeners of the longing of saying goodbye to someone or anyone! Probably the simpliest music video of the year too! But on top of that, I'm very glad she returned new music and not just her greatest hits!
2011: Far East Movement - "Rocketeer" (feat. Ryan Tedder)
2012: Demi Lovato - "Give Your Heart a Break" |
#106
KE$HA - "Crazy Kids" (feat. will.i.am)
 | "...And we are, we are, we are, we are, we are, The crazy kids, them crazy, them crazy kids...And we are, we are, we are, we are, we are...The crazy kids, we are the...We are the crazy people!..."
ALBUM: Warrior
RELEASED DATE: April 30, 2013
GENRE: Techno-pop, pop rap
LENGTH: 3:49
LABEL: Kemosabe, RCA
WRITER(S): Kesha, Lukasz Gottwald, William Adams, Henry Walter, Benjamin Levin
PRODUCER(S): Dr. Luke, Cirkut, Benny Blanco
WEEKS ON CHART: 5 weeks
PEAK POSITION: #06
⚫ The original solo version of this song is definitely without a doubt, my most favorite song off her new album "Warrior". For me, this is classic Ke$ha and at her best! From its verses, there is evident usage of the sing-rap technique where she is known for! The chorus features a short proclamation that they introduce themselves as the title suggests followed by a highlight whisper. This charted low though and didn't smashed harder in my countdown due to late music video release. Don't mind will.i.am but that mumbling part raised most eyebrows here!
2011: Beyonce - "Move Ya Body"
2012: B.o.B. - "So Good" |
#105
CIARA - "Got Me Good"
 | "...You got it, yeah you know you got me good...Yeah, you got it, yeah you know you got me good, yeah...Nobody can make me feel like you do baby, You got me good..."
ALBUM:
RELEASED DATE: November 06, 2012
GENRE: R&B
LENGTH: 3:47
LABEL: Epic ; Syco
WRITER(S): Ciara Harris ; Olivia Waithe ; Rodney Jerkins
PRODUCER(S): Darkchild
WEEKS ON CHART: 7 weeks
PEAK POSITION: #04
⚫ Swear this could've been the comeback for Ciara but turned out to yet again a promo single! All about it, the sound and the music video is just back to basic Ciara that we all witnessed with a 2013 twist! Production held by the incredible and versatile Darkchild, Ciara sings within energy through a pulsating beat! My fave in all of this is of course, the music video! Filmed in a desert, Ciara shows us how its done! and reminds us what her forte truly is!
2011: Jason Derulo - "Don't Wanna Go Home"
2012: Owl City - "Good Time" (w/ Carly Rae Jepsen) |
