I do indeed live in Spain, well until June/July. I'm on a year abroad/language exchange, studying Spanish law at uni. I speak basic French, but I'm improving. It was easy at first as my family are from Dominica in the West Indies where they speak a patois/creole of French.

I don't have an issue per se being black in Spain, but I did get some looks when I first came in August. The only blacks here are Africans, so I'm a fair bit lighter than them and also people seemed very surprised I was well educated. The blacks here tend to be street sellers, it's sad tbh

I went to Barcelona and the street sellers were everywhere. They weren't all black though. I remember when the police came, they rolled up their blankets full of tacky ass souvenirs and bookedT their asses right on out the area.

Do it! It's great tbh, and the travelling is awesome. I've seen the whole of Spain, been to Portugal and hope to visit Morocco, France, Italy, Belgium and Germany in the new year but on a budget like...I ain't Kang Bey yet. Oh and I'll be off to Barcelona for the Mrs Carter Show - so excited! The experience makes you value people more, and realise what matters in life and what doesn't. I don't have a lot of time to sort my self out, so I'm really making the experience. I'd hate to go back to the UK not improving in anyway, it's kinda sad tbh. A waste of a once in a lifetime experience.

Yeah, I didn't like having 2 languages, so I'm opting for 3, and maybe 4 with Portuguese (it's not too hard with Spanish helping a lot). Nah, there's no blatant diss or anything. I'm the opposite of what they'd expect from a young black male. They all keep saying, 'You speak really good Spanish'

I would love to travel. I've only been to two countries outside of the US and that's France and Spain. I want to experience and travel more. It's great that you're using the experience to better yourself. I hope to do the same. Enjoy Bey her international concert.

I currently only have 1 languages. I really want to learn Spanish, French, Korean, and Dutch. I know it's a bit ambitious, but during college I'm sure I can learn 1/2 those languages.
