Which is more iconic?
Based off of this commercial:

the pencil is probably the most global item in the world, not to mention its longevity has transcended through multiple generations. #2 pencil wins.

It's like comparing Madonna and Gaga: one has been here for centuries, the other one is nothing more than an overrated passing fad.

That's a bad comparison. The iPad is still slaying hard till this day.

The pencil is like The Bible and the iPad is like My Crazy Beautiful Life (Ke$ha's book)... obviously the iPad is better but the pencil will always be more iconic.

Working with a pencil sucks.

I wish I was born later so I didn't have to realize they even existed.

That is such nonsense, you can use them until they are tiny stubs, sharpened up until the metal band... and you can carve all sorts of designs in them while bored in class, which is super fun. And they even work as impromptu weapons.

The best thing is that kids can use them as an excuse to bring knives to school, "it's for sharpening my pencil, ma'am!"
