Let me say this. She has some singing ability that she could have cultivated, but either her voice changed drastically or all the years of forcing this unnatural sound out in the studio made her voice worsen. She did in fact neglect her voice. But if Britney had Aretha Franklin's vocals, none of y'all would be sitting here talking about "oversinging".

If you look at the vegas clips you can see that she's a great dancer again. Also her Star Search clips prove she was a flawless singer who's voice got ruined, but she's still talented and deserves her fame. If Adele suddenly got throat cancer would she not be considered talented anymore?

I don't remember that but it makes sense. Britney has always been very shy so no doubt she'd be more happy with a less successful career where the media doesn't care about her enough to follow her everywhere. This is partly why she's underperforming now, she has done everything to divert media attention (not leaving her house for several years, and when she does she wears the most boring clothes possible to make sure no one cares about her). It was a hard task, taking nearly 5 years but she finally succeeded.

To me that is the big issue, the vocal card is excellent, but should not be used solely when comparing artists in the pop world. What makes a pop girl successful is a combination of virtues (Command of the stage, choreographies, stage presence, creativity, personality, even good business decisions but definitely not only powerhouse vocals). I mean if powerhouse vocals were the definition of talent in the pop world then Madonna would had not been able to remain the pop girl standard and endure this industry for 30+ years.

yes, we would. oversinging is so annoying. One of Christina's best songs (she oversings A LOT) is the one where she doesnt oversing a single time (Save Me From myself). People just tend to forget that oversinging doesnt make anyone more talented than anyone else.

Can you bring forth recent evidence that proves otherwise? I might be in a minority but I never thought she was talented to begin with. She was a decent dancer and now that she can't do that anymore, she's kind of useless.

Christina Aguilera seems to be y'all go to girl when it comes to vocals. But I'm not thinking about Christina Aguilera. She's not even a very good singer. I clearly mentioned Aretha Franklin.

That's talent.

And there's all sorts of other talents... Writing, composing, dancing, etc. None of which Britney excels in. She used to be a good dancer, though not perfect, she was good. That's gone now.
