Jack Johnson's New Album Should Hit 330k Mark, Debut #1

Finally, record sales have entered the new year.

And not a moment too soon.

Jack Johnson's new Brushfire/Universal Republic album, Sleep Through the Static, has awakened music fans, according to one-day reports from our crack retail sources still working around this great country. The surfer-turned-singer-songwriter's first album since his 2006 Curious George soundtrack, looks set to move some 330k and, thanks to a huge Triple A smash in "If I Had Eyes," will easily debut at #1, with the added fillip of a Valentine's Day weekend. It's been #1 at iTunes since last year on pre-orders alone, and is on target to surpass Kanye West's one-week download record.

Sheryl Crow's Detours, her new album for A&M and first of original material since 2005's Wildflower, is on target for just around 85-90k, which will be good enough for #2. The personal disc deals with the singer-songwriter's bout with cancer, her new adopted son and the aftermath of her tabloid breakup with Lance Armstrong.

Lenny Kravitz is bringing the Love Revolution to the charts with his new Virgin album, which looks like it'll be in the 60-70k range, definitely Top 5, depending on Alicia Keys, a possible #3.

Overall, the market was up 4% vs last week, down 19% vs same week last year and now down 12% year-to-date. Double digits and we're barely into February. That sucks.

Jack Johnson deserves the #1. From what I heard, If I Had Eyes is twice as good as No One.

I'm bummed about Sheryl. Her new album is good but she hasn't released the marketable singles yet and there's been no promtion for this album whatsoever so I guess she's going to sell just around what I expected. It deserves platinum though. I think we all knew Jack Johnson would debut on top.

Sorry...well what I try to said is that Britney and Christina began like Hanna Montana, and somebody said that Miley Cyrus could end her career in 2 years....and I think that this would probably not gonna happen 'cause she is selling a lot..... Just look at this link.

Yeah except Britney and Christina didnt have 2 diff. personalities/people to sell off of, its really only her disney viewers/listeners who are buying her music not the general public, Bitney and Christina started thier music careers differently than miley, they didnt use disney to their advantage and Disney wasnt even that big of a thing with their success, yes it prepped them but it definitley didnt boost their careers like it has with Miley.....trust me Miley will be done in a matter of a couple years...

Right, both Britney and Aguilera started their singing careers long after they left Disney Channel.

Miley is here to stay. She is only 15-16 and has a lot of years left in her.

Miley is having the exact same success as Britney and Christina was back in the early 99s and 00s.

Next album she'll be a ****, then she'll either become a trash hazard, but still have fans out there (Britney) or lose all her fans due to her changing her many "styles" (Christina).

You both are wrong, Miley Cirus has no fans, Hannah Montana does.

Uhm no Britney and Christina's fans didnt come from Disney channel they didnt start their careers till years after the mikey mouse club and that wasnt even a highlight in their lives, as for Miley she depends on Hannah and Disney if she didnt have them she would be NOTHING, stop comparing her to those 2 they have nothing in common.

I meant album sales wise. I never specified how I thought they compared, so stop jumping to conclusions, trying sound smart.
