I don't see why all of a sudden though. This era isn't much different from BTW; she started acting pretentious as the BTW era began. The only difference is that she's pushing it perhaps a bit too far with ARTPOP, but nonetheless it's not something monsters shouldn't be used to. It's because of her recent statement she got emma to release on GGD. I think it made a lot of people realise just how cult like the fanbase was becoming
So Beyonce and Whitney shouldn't be praised for songs they haven't written or produced? The delivery matters too.
It's still their songs at the end of the day, the producers and writers get their royalties and credits.
If you're only a vocalist then it's difficult to grow, especially cause voices tend to deteriorate over time. Pepcé obviously peaked with DIL, Whitney peaked early in her career, etc. Mariah has creative control so her best work (Memoirs) is very recent even though her voice has faded.
And just to clarify if my position is ambiguous to anyone (lest more rumors of me jumping ship somehow pop up), I love the music Gaga has made and I have faith that she will continue to impress me with her music - I love the POP, and I simply don't use or want to use the ART. Well, not the ART she's attempting to do anyway. Give me VMAs 2009. Give me DWUW on the Alan Carr show.
