Ok, I have a few issues with this.
Firstly 'The Art'. Those two videos are incomparable and don't actually prove your point well. The former is a theatrical pop performance, the latter is a filmed art piece demonstrating the practice of an(other) artist. The intent of that was not to provide an entertaining spectacle, it was methodic art with a secondary purpose to gain attention through controversy. I'm not saying that as a monster who views everything she does as art, but as a former art student who's familiar with this stuff being commonplace in the scene.
She can't replicate the Paparazzi performance. You only get one chance to really shock people like that - it's an effective first impression. Everything afterwards will be compared and the element of surprise is gone. It's why her performances since haven't received the same reaction. Not because they aren't as good. She clearly realised that and moved into stunts outwith performance - like wearing the meat dress, then rocking up to the red carpet in an egg. Both areas are now unshockable with her.
Secondly, I think people have twisted the whole "real fan" thing. I may be wrong, but I highly doubt she refuses to hear criticism. She objects to negativity and bad behaviour. Saying you dislike x, y and z or you don't agree with how she's doing something is entirely different from trolling threads, throwing hate at her, having meltdowns et all. We all know that fans on GGD and ATRL often do not verbalise or carry themselves well when it comes to this. Criticism doesn't need to be destructive.
Thirdly, she doesn't owe us ****. Her career isn't ruled by fan committee. We are the audience, not her friends or colleagues. We pay to watch the spectacle - she is the show. If you do not want to watch the show any longer, you can leave. Don't bitch her out for not tailoring HER show to what YOU want to see.
I can't agree, during her prime she was praising the hell out of her Little Monsters, sharing moments with them as if they were her friends...
