Interesting, because I kind of felt the exact opposite way. I think all of the tracks aside from Contact look deep into the past as a means to the future, creating an organic sound that still feels distinctly modern. I feel like Contact is more in tune with their own past, a bit of a re-establishment of self at the end of a journey.

27. Vampire Weekend - Ya Hey



This song could have an absolute perfection (and Top 10 material) if it wasn't for that annoying pitched voice repeatedly saying "Ya Hey" during the first few choruses. Like.... why. I don't get it.

I was surprised at how much I loved this. Amazing, crisp production and great "don't give a damn" party lyrics.

Thrift Shop! That was my favorite song from late 2012 - early 2013, it's just amazing!
We Can't Stop! she really surprised me too! my favorite song from her.

That's not a terrible observation, really. It could be Daft Punk looking at their own past while finding a new future within as the song progresses.

And god, "Giorgio". That's MY JAM, y'all.

15. Autre Ne Veut - Anxiety



Great album. Lots of really good tracks.

Highlights: Play By Play, Counting, Gonna Die, Ego Free Sex Free, Warning



14. Ciara - Ciara



Was pleasantly surprised by this. It's not perfect, but it packs a bunch of really good songs.

Highlights: Body Party, Sophomore, Read My Lips



13. M.I.A. - Matangi



Cool album. Bad Girls is a little out of place on it though.

Highlights: Bad Girls, Bring The Noize, Come Walk With Me



12. Baths - Obsidian



Another great album. Great production, fascinating lyrics, good melodies.

Highlights: Phaedra, Worsening, Inter



11. J. Cole - Born Sinner



Very decent effort from Jermaine. Succeeds at maintaining the same atmosphere throughout.

Highlights: Power Trip, Let Nas Down, Crooked Smile

''Ego Free Sex Free'' would be perfect without that sounds near the beginning.

I quite like that part

Autre Ne Veut! I loved his album. Overall, my favorite lists going on so far. Our singles lists are almost identical Albums as well.

I recall hearing that Baths album but I don't remember it too well, I'll give it another listen soon.
