It's time to start on my Top 100 Singles of 2013! But before that, for today I will give you the 10 songs that almost made it.
TOP 10 BUBBLING UNDER
#10
Tonight I'm Getting Over You
Carly Rae Jepsen
Peak: 9
Weeks on chart: 15
This is probably Carly's best song off Kiss and honestly it did have the potential to smash, yet it didn't, despite it getting a really cool remix with Nicki Minaj. I guess she's pretty much done right now.
#9
Gold
Britt Nicole
Peak: 14
Weeks on chart: 7
This is just a really catchy song. I didn't realise she was actually a Christian singer, especially with that cool rap segment in the bridge. However I don't think I would wanna check her music out more, so this is probably the last time I'll see her.
#8
We Remain
Christina Aguilera
Peak: 10
Weeks on chart: 7 (still charting)
This is Christina's best song in so long to be honest, probably since her Back to Basics era. It's so much more mature and the arena pop sound really works well with her booming voice. It gives her a much bigger sense of credibility too. I hope she takes this route more in her next album. Maybe we're all kinda tired of dirrty Xtina. This sound might just win the GP back.
#7
Hothouse
78violet
Peak: 14
Weeks on chart: 12
These 2 sisters disappeared for 6 years, went off into acting and even went independent. This year they finally returned with a new Lana Del Rey-esque indie song, totally different from their past song. Sadly they've failed to create enough fanfare around their return (the video only has over 200,000 views after 5 months), but I guess that's what they get when they don't have a label.
#6
Next to Me
Emeli Sande
Peak: 10
Weeks on chart: 11
Mmm this song is kinda cool I guess. I picked it up because radio started playing this this year, despite it smashing last year in the UK. I don't really have much to comment about this song.
The second single of her Greatest Hits album. Though it's better than the really underwhelming Catch My Breath, it still falls short of usual Kelly greatness. The sound is a little too generic in my opinion.
#4
Sail
AWOLNATION
Peak: 10
Weeks on chart: 10
I sort of knew this song since last year, but I didn't really bothered about it other than watching it's strange parody that has more views than the official video, and the hysterically hilarious Cat Jump Fail video. I only really caught onto it when it finally got released to mainstream radio in the US (which is my main source of music).
#3
Millionaires
The Script
Peak: 8
Weeks on chart: 8
The 4th single off the album which title was stolen from Beyonce. I really liked the chorus of this song. It's really uplifting.
#2
True Love (feat. Lily Rose Cooper)
P!nk
Peak: 6
Weeks on chart: 12
I don't know if Lily wants to be called Allen or Rose Cooper now??? Besides that, this song is cute and the video is also really cute, despite everyone here dragging it to the pits.
#1
Carry On
fun.
Peak: 4
Weeks on chart: 17
And there you have it, the song that almost made it into the top 100. Sadly this song failed to match up to Some Nights and We Are Young in terms of success and quality, yet it's still a pretty darn good song.
AND THAT'S MY 10 BUBBLING UNDER SONGS WHICH ALMOST MADE IT TO THE CHARTS. FOR THE TOP 100 SINGLES, I WILL PROBABLY START ON MONDAY AS I'M UNAVAILABLE TOMORROW. THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING AND COMMENTING, AND WE SHALL MOVE INTO THE CHARTS PROPER SOON.
