I really didn't want to have to go to Best Buy tomorrow, but they're forcing me... Either there or Starbucks and I was trying to avoid Starbucks because I'll want to buy a White Chocolate Mocha and I don't need one.

Why is Target pressed? albums get shipped at least two weeks before the street date. Chances of it leaking were high just like they have a right to protect their business Beyonce has the right to protect hers.

My mother bought me the album from Walmart. I am so done right now. I'm going to have to check our Stabucks (+ the one in the Target). It sucks not having a Best Buy, ugh.

Thats exactly what target is doing though. By refusing to sell the album they are trying to protect their buisness. It's to try and stop artist from following Beyonce's footsteps.

As a consumer I have to say that this is very alarming. I don't want artists to give their albums exclusively to any retailer, because when they do, the market becomes a monopoly, which is good for Apple and Sony but screws everybody else, including you and me and millions of consumers, up. Instead of hauling my ass to Best Buy and paying $17 I could have gone to Target or Amazon and paid less. So, no, Bey, no. Don't press the retailers because you will be pressing your fans too.

I go to target to buy toilet tissue and cereal not albums. Their $80 billion dollar a year business is unbothered by her move, they are just being a butthurt bully.

Instead of being bitter b**ches they need to come up with a way to to prevent leaks. The music industry is dying due to illegal downloading and these fools are surprised someone wants to go digital first. Smh

Beyonce's albums smashing has got these punk stores feeling some type of way. It's not as if a Starbucks or BestBuy (or WalMart) is particularly hard to find these days.

I think the exclusivity is amazing... you can't get Beyonce just anywhere

I mean this makes sense. She kinda gave the middle finger to retail with this release. The issue is that if this is the way she wanted it to be (surprise, no leaks, etc.) there really was no other way.

I work at HMV here in Canada and sold quite a few copies on my shift. Firs Target, now Amazon. Why are they so pressed. I'm not a huge Beyonce fan but I don't get their policies.

a) Target doesn't care about Beyonce's right to protect the leak. They're a business. They don't have to play fair.

b) The reason they aren't carrying it is because they want to try and prevent other artists from doing the same thing Bey did, releasing exclusively to iTunes a week early. It takes away from their potential sales when the album is available for a full week before they can stock it. They aren't trying to hurt Beyonce, they are trying to say that if other artists do this, they won't carry their albums. They did the same thing last year with Frank Ocean, and now Amazon is coming on board. It's not affecting Beyonce really (she will lose some sales but it's already successful enough that it doesn't matter).
