#03. She & Him - "Volume 3" (2013)

When I thought Volume Two couldn't be matched, this album had to come out. It's amazing how consistent the album is. Besides, thanks to Zooey's sweet voice and catchy and easy-to-remember choruses and verses (which are stand-outs here), it seems like every song could be a potential single track. In any case, to make a long story short, I enjoyed plenty of songs from this album this year, to the point I wanted to buy its original physical copy, which then I did in Buenos Aires! It feels great.

#02. Ducktails - "The Flower Lane" (2013)

Yes, I do remember it perfectly. The first song I liked from this band was the first new song I heard this year. I knew about their music thanks to their song "Letter Of Intent", which later would become a single. I was really looking forward to listening to the album, and once I did it, I loved it and played on repeat for quite some time. I fell in love with "Ivy Covered House" and "Sedan Magic." The guitar pedals and the chill atomosphere their songs convey took me instantly, just like Real Estate's "Days" last year, yet showing more nostalgia. The only track I don't like (and still don't undersand why it is in the album) is Academy Avenue.

#01. DIIV - "Oshin" (2012)

Those hard-to-repeat moments in which the first album I listened to in a year becomes the #1 album of THAT year. It's important to remark that I don't like every song from the album; in fact, sometimes it gives me the impression two tracks are the same. However, the songs I liked from the album either ranked high on my list, lasted for a long time, or got several #1s on my weekly c/d. Expect to see many songs from this album being Top 50 on my Top 100 of 2013. Listening to this album is a great dreamy trip, where tracks with either the vocalist (How Long Have You Known) or merely instrumental ones (Druun Pt. 2, Sometime) become instant dream pop classics. Come on! Its album cover even became an avatar of mine.

We will start the frustrated songs list tomorrow. Perhaps I'll post some close calls also. Thanks for your comments!
