Discussion: College in New York?

I'm looking at this school John Jay School for Criminal Justice and I really really like the school. The only problem is that I would have to pay for an apartment or go through their housing and try to find a roommate and I'm not even from there!

What do you think about the whole college in New York? Do you attend any college in New York? How about John Jay? Is it a good school?!

Don't go it's terrible, stay in your local community college.

I don't go to school or live in NYC, but I regret just staying local and not even doing a college search. I would love to go to college in NYC. Try to go through their housing.

I know that CCNY and other CUNY schools have some dorms if you go there, but I wouldn't base your school around dorm living.

I never heard of John Jay before, but a college experience in NYC is once in a lifetime. Depending on your college location, housing through your school will be a toss up. If it is outside the city, housing through the school is probably cheaper but if it is in the city, finding your own apt (undoubtedly harder than signing up for your school's housing lotto) is cheaper.

Neighborhoods around NYU are exorbitantly higher (cuz it obviously has the best real estate location) while neighborhoods around Columbia University are cheaper cuz it's up all the way in Harlem. Cornell is off in bumble**** so everything is cheaper. The colleges outside the city are much cheaper to attend and the housing is significantly cheaper.

Not necessarily cheaper he could just go to a Cuny/SUNY
