I actually bashed 4 pretty hard when it first leaked. I was way more into white ppl pop back then, and the TRASH kept me from appreciating the gems.
It's crazy how a lead single can totally affect your perception of an album. RTW (Diplo) was trash, so I went into 4 expecting it to be trash. Applause was wonderful, so I went into ARTPOP expecting it to be wonderful. It takes a few more listens to realize the true IMPACT.SALES.QUALITY
I actually respect some of the Beyhive even more after we stuck through and stanned during and after the whole 4skin-4lop-4closure-4get phase.
